Avedon Project

Photos of Isaac

Artist Statement
This project was about mimicking the photographic style of the famous portrait photographer, Richard Avedon. We had to take pictures of models that were acting truthfully, realistically, honestly, and as themselves. To take pictures of a model that was acting naturally and realistically, I needed to prompt the model with questions that made them really think deeply and not worry think about the presence of the camera. After saying the prompts, I would wait until the model had dwelled on the prompt in their head and I then took the picture when I felt that they were truly thinking about the prompt. After taking the photos, they were made into squares and put into black and white to further emulate the works of Avedon.
